So this Tumblr place is becoming the talk of the town, and everyone's joining.

So that's what I did.

jackster3000.tumblr.com/

I'll see if I can keep this account updated on a regular basis with sketches and what not. I'll still keep posting art here on dA as well, so I'm not going anywhere.

This whole new profile page shabang.

Stolen from delSHARK which she created three years ago, I decided to make one of these of my own. The purpose is to discuss how you originated the names of your characters.

Nutty the Squirrel: He's a squirrel, he eats acorns, which are basically nuts. Not to mention "nutty" is a fancy word for "crazy". You should know that by now.

Pikin: Surinamese word for "little" or "children". The word is also related to the pidgin word "pickaninny"

Dandellion: One of the pikin familes' surnames; Reath's family for instance. Pikins usually name surnames after a plant or a tree. Dandellion is, of course, named after a flower. This family is as followed:

Reath: He started out as a rip-off of Wiz from D.N.Angel (as shown here), and during the time of his creation, Wiz was usually named as "Wizu" or most yet "With" before the english version of the manga/anime was released. Reath is a different, cheap pronunciation of With.
Saloma: Searched from many baby names websites; Hebrew name meaning "peace"
Dolly: Searched from many baby names websites; American name meaning "cute child"
Renny: Searched from many baby names websites; Irish and Gaelic name meaning "small and mighty"

Randy: Reath's fatass twin brother. Named after Ethan Suplee's character Randy Hickey from the NBC show "My Name Is Earl"

Emily Bee: I wanted a simple name for her. The name Emily just randomly came into my head one day. And basically, she's a "Bee".

Fido: Random dog name for Nutty's pet blob that acts like a dog.

Angel: Jack's old name back in the days when he was a lame-ass Megaman Maverick/Reploid ripoff and a human wearing that overrated Matrix trenchcoat outfit. Named after my old usernames which were "AngelHunter", "AngelHunterZero", and "DarkAngel".

Jack: I needed to change Angel's name because it was such a stupid name for him. Jack randomly came into my head and it seemed to fit will with the character, and that's how he got the name.

Jack Cottontail: An obvious parody of Peter Cottontail with Jack's name thrown in.

Angel Cottontail: Just like Jack Cottontail back when Jack was named Angel.

Jackster: Just like the same issue that led me to change Angel's name to Jack, DarkAngel/DarkAngelX/DarkAngelWhatever was a stupid noobish name to go by. So by 2004, I was known elsewhere as Jackster, named after my character Jack.

Jackster E. Mouse: See that mouse on my header? That's actually a character based on me. Or as people are calling it now, my "fursona". It's basically the name Jackster with a cartoonish feel to it. The E inital stands for Emerson, my real middle name.

Retro: A word meaning "old-fashioned", which is what my MuMu character Retro is; he's an old-fashioned person from the 1980s.

Mac Ridgewell: Retro's real name. I'm not sure where Ridgewell came from, but the name Mac came from the 80s band Fleetwood Mac.

Skippy: Comet's old name back when he was a MuMu dog that resembles a yellow lab. Just a randomly picked dog's name.

Comet: Named after the golden retriever on Full House.

Yuka and Yuki (Gemini): I believe Yuka and Yuki were randomly picked Japanese names that are just pronouced slightly the same. Gemini because there are two of them.

AngelHunter, AngelHunterZero, DarkAngel(X) and whatnot: I don't even want to know where the hell these names came from.

A bit of changes in my gallery

Before I start, yes I changed my journal layout back to the way it was, because I've been having trouble with CSS since I first made the layout. It was rather ugly looking since the text didn't line up well with the image under different monitor resolutions. So for right now, I'm under construction of a new better looking layout.

Now then, back to the reason I made this journal. Not a lot was changed in my gallery, just a couple. One of then is that I have now disabled comments in my Foster's Home deviation "Mac and Cheese", because since this picture is getting rather popular in this site, I'm getting rather sick and tired of getting comments from people quoting what Cheese says in the show ("I like cereal", "I like chocolate milk", you know what I mean if you watch the cartoon). About half of the comments in that drawing now is just that. It was annoying the heck out of me, so I had no choice but to kick out the commentary. However, you can still +fav the deviation if you want, you just can't comment on it.

That is all I have to say.

That scwewy wabbit :iconatomicstoney: stamped an "M" on my forehead, so now I have to make this quiz where I have to come up with 6 things about me that uses the letter assigned by the person given to you. So.......let's start:

Mouse: What I turned myself into on my journal header above.
Moustache: What I used to grow during my high school years. I shaved it off a month after graduation.
Mac & Cheese: What I eat most of the time. What? It's a childhood favorite of mine.
Megas XLR: A freakin' good show!
Muffins: The name of my upcoming Void fighter
Mega Man: What I used to like back in early 2000s, now the franchise is getting rather tiring.

You like? Good.

Well, after I noticed my original journal images were missing (the ones that said "News" and "Clubs" that I put together back in 2005), I went to the site that hosted them and found out that they suspend my account until I log back on. Problem is, I couldn't remember my own password. Even after going through a half-hour figuring it out, I come back with no luck. So I gave up and decided to update how my journal would look.

This is the result of hours upon hours upon HOURS of CSS code research (well, it took me all last night and all of today messing around with the code to made it look right). I'd say, it didn't turn out too bad afterwards, but it still needs some tweaking about.

Oh well, my old images were boring to look at anyways.

BACK TO WORK!

Wow, it's been too long since I've updated my journal. Aw well, on with the show.

This was stolen from delSHARK, because there's no such thing as journal theft here on dA.

RULES: Post 10 art facts about you. Put them into the journal and inform them that they've been tagged.

1. VOID FACT: Nutty the Squirrel was originally supposed to be a cartoon rabbit named Hoppy Hare. However, I changed it to keep away from being compared to Walt Disney's Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

2. I have been enjoying cartoons since childhood, however starting from 1998, "anime" has taken control of my brain. And because of the childish "Cartoons are for kids" theory, I had begun hating anything Disney-related as well. It wasn't until 2003-04 that I would finally come back into the wonderful world of cartoons, special thanks to my animation class in high school.

3. VOID FACT: Nutty the Squirrel wasn't inspired only by old black-and-white cartoon characters of the 1920s-30s. His personality, for starters, was inspired by the creative minds of Chuck Jones and Tom Rueggers.

4. Animation class back in high school not only got me back to cartoons, but also played a major part at helping me draw better, even though I wasn't as good at animating at the time.

5. VOID FACT: The now-dead Void fighter Dolly was thought up from an idea for the now-dead series of mine entitled "Jack's World". The idea was that Reath had a very large family tree beside him, and one of his many cousin's children was a pink, cute little girl that would become Dolly and a blue little boy just about the same age with a propeller cap on, which would later become Renny.

6. After graduating from high school was when I started changing my ways. At the fall of '04 was when I started changing my art style from the badly-drawn "anime-esque" look to a more lively-looking cartoony look. This art style was first inspired by Chuck Jones, then it started changing later on with more detail and effort put into it.

7. VOID FACT: Nutty the Squirrel's original bio tells about how a person covered in black gave Nutty information about how he can raise back to stardom just by find a retired executive producer hidden in the depths of Void City. This started with an idea where Nutty would find this "executive producer" in an abandon warehouse, however he finds out that this hidden person was actually Warner Brothers producer Ron Myrick and he captures Nutty and experiments him in a secret lab to make a clone of what he thinks will be the next "big hit" of a WB cartoon. The result was an all-futuristic looking Nutty in parody to the old character designs of Loonatics: Unleashed, going by the name "Nutz Squirrel". He somehow betrays Myrick, kills him and escapes the lab, where he would be suspected as a threat for EnterVoid's annual big battle called Armageddon. This idea was later dropped and will change the bio once EnterVoid is back up.

8. VOID FACT: The person covered in black in Nutty's bio was actually another toon character I created named Emily Bee. The original idea was that Emily was ordered by Ron Myrick to send Nutty to Void City in order to find him and capture him. She releases Nutty from the lab after Nutz escaped. After that idea dropped, I've decided to turn her into a Void fighter herself. She was to be a pupil of Nutty, with him as the teacher, teaching her the ways and basics of being a cartoon. That idea was also dropped because it was a stupid story, and Emily possibly wouldn't make it as a Void Fighter because of the fact that she's just a female version of Nutty, by power and appearance comparisons. Instead, I will be putting her in Void City as a supporting character rather than a fighter.

9. I got my first Wacom tablet on Christmas Day of 2003, however I didn't use it as much until the end of 2004. On August 2005, I ordered a tablet PC laptop in replacement of my old tablet. On July 2006, I've ordered a new wireless Wacom tablet that runs under Bluetooth technology

10. I got my first computer back in '94, where it was computer for my entire family to use. It was a Packard Bell that ran on Windows 3.1. On 1999, we got a new PC, a HP Pavilion that ran under Windows 98 (now runs under Windows 2000, in replacement of the old one which was now dead and unable to work. It wasn't until the end of 2003 that a good friend of mine built a computer for my personal belongings (runs under Windows XP) for only $300. And I still use it ever since.

That seems to rap it up here.

<delya> Yes!
<DivineError> no but okay
<delya> DONE
** realillusions was kicked by realillusions *

<realillusions> all better :aww:
<DarkAngelX> A hallway contains 1048 closed lockers. Suppose students numbered 1, 2, 3, ... , 1048 walk down the hall in order. Student k will look only at lockers whose number is divisible by k and open it if it is closed and close it if it is open. A famous problem asks which lockers remain open after all the students pass. The answer is the squares, those being the only numbers with an odd number of divisors. Suppose that we want to have only locker #1 be open at the end, and we can restrict the set of students who are sent down the hall as we choose. Which students should be sent? Source: A recent paper by Bruce Torrence (Randolph-Macon College), Mathematica in Education and Research 11:1 (2006) "Extending the locker problem." One can pose many variations of this question. Here are some, in rough order of difficulty. We may as well consider the full infinite sequence of lockers (1 ,2, 3, ...) and have a similarly infinite supply of students, numbered 1, 2, 3, .... (Torrence) Suppose we want to have only locker #k open at the end. Which students should be sent? (Torrence) Suppose we want to have only lockers whose number is prime open at the end. Which students should be sent? (Torrence and Wagon) Suppose we want to have only lockers whose number is a perfect cube open at the end. Which students should be sent? (Buhler, Torrence, and Wagon) As noted, if S is all positive integers, then the corresponding open-locker-set A is the squares. In short A = S2. Find a set S that reverses this, in the sense S = A2. (Well, if A is the empty set, then A2 is the empty set; and that works as S. There is a nonempty set with this property.) And for something completely different, an unsolved problem (due to Torrence): Consider the original question (with n lockers and n students, all of whom flip lockers). Note that the order in which the students are sent does not affect the final configuration. So there are n! ways of sending the students. Now, for each such permutation, let its "open count" be the sum, over all lockers, of the number of time periods each locker is open. Viewed graphically, one can imagine using white squares for open lockers and black for closed. Then the result of sending a permutation of the students through is an nxn array of white and black squares and the open count is the total number of white squares. Is there a characterization of the permutation that minimizes the open count? For n = 100, the best is a permutation found by Witold Jarnicki for which the total open count is 730.
<realillusions> holy shit
<DivineError> Will this be on the final exam
<realillusions> doubtful
<DarkAngelX> *Jeopardy theme song*
<delya> 42
<DivineError> I think the answer is "A big bowling shoe"
<realillusions> :excited: How'd you know?
<DarkAngelX> Man, this is better than Lemontea's question
<DivineError> iVE BEEN ASKED THIS QUESITON BEFORE
<delya> We know all.
<delya> CAPS LOLK

<realillusions> I knew it was a good idea
<DivineError> okie dokie
<DarkAngelX> Indeed
<madnessism> :iconohnoesplz:

So what's the answer? I'm not telling, you get your lazy brain going and you solve it. =P

WHOA! Daily Deviation?!

Sun Jul 23, 2006, 8:22 PM

This was TOTALLY unexpected.

Originally, I thought of Oswald's Return as an average drawing from me, until Cartoon/Comic director and also a great friend of mine delSHARK actually likes this piece and stamps it to the Daily Deviation section.

At long last, one of Walt Disney's very first creations before Mickey gets the kind of respect he's always wanted! I'd like to thank everyone who liked the piece and favorited, and special thanks to Delya for the DD!

I love you all!! =D

A notice about my fonts

Sat Apr 29, 2006, 5:58 PM

Well, I fixed the strangely broken links from my older made fonts. Except that is Humanoid Typhoon.

Since I couldn't find the original TTF file, I decided to delete it. But on ocasion, I have the FontLab VFB file still on my computer back when I was planning on remaking the font. So I will upload a newer version once I get it done.

End of line.
